Gingerbread Adventures!

Samantha, Abby and I taste the gingerbread cookies the gingerbread man brought us because he was afraid we wanted to eat him. (WE DID WANT TO EAT HIM!)
The PM Class and their gingerbread man.

Getting ready to eat that runnaway fellow! It was covered in plastic when the custodian brought it in. One little friend said, "don't take that off! He will run away again!"

The AM class and thier gingerbread man.

At the begining of each school year, we make a gingerbread man and he runs away during recess. We spend the next week looking for our gingerbread man. The objectives of this week include: familiarizing ourselves with our school environment, meeting the support teachers, staff and office workers, and becoming excited to come to school each day. Some academic gingerbread man activities include: writing a letter to our gingerbread man, cutting (yes, believe me, we need scissor practice), reading gingerbread man books, graphing and other math activities. We also use deductive reasoning to come up with plans to catch our gingerbread man. Our ideas come from books and personal experiences. We were so thrilled when our custodian had an idea: he dressed up as a gingerbread man and "caught" our gingerbread man and brought it back to us!

Here I am with my kindergarten classes!!

This is my afternoon class on the first day of school.
What cute kids! This is my morning class on the first day of school! Also cute kids! I have 19 students in each class this year. :)

This is a test... this is only a test :)

Both of my sisters have blogs and they are awesome! (My sisters AND thier blogs!)
My sister Jan really inspired me this summer and helped me set up a blog, but somehow it disappeared into the oblivion of the www. :) So here I am starting anew!
A little bit about me and why I chose this name for my blog.
Miss Smarty comes from Mary Engelbrite who is super creative which I aspire to be.
Kinder Mom is because I am a kindergarten teacher (and I love it!) and I'm a mom. (Which I also love!)
When someone asks me how many children I have, I don't know how to answer that... there are so many children in my heart! I gave birth to 4 amazing children... My two beautiful, sweet daughters: Emily and Lisa, and my two growing-like-weeds sons: Alexander and Joshua. I have 4 adult stepchildren: Zach, Amber, Nathan and Nolan. AND any given year I have 40 to 45 energetic kindergarten students!
This is a test to see if my blog will work!
